COVID-19 Information

With the coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak, Capital Pathology recognises that we have an important role to play in supporting our clinicians and their patients with up-to-date information about coronavirus and respiratory virus testing.

The information here is designed to keep you informed of our current status as it applies to coronavirus testing. As a result of conditions changing so rapidly, our website will be updated regularly with pertinent COVID-19 information and the latest from our practice about collection and testing.

Telehealth referrals

Doctors and patients have been preferring to use Telehealth services recently and Capital Pathology has set up for clinics to be able to refer patients without using paper copies.

COVID-19 Testing

If you are attending one of our designated COVID-19 facilities, a pathology referral form is not required for COVID-19 testing. Please note however that any testing performed at our regular collection centres will require a pathology request form from your doctor.

Turnaround Times:

As of September 2022, current turnaround time for results is approximately 24 to 36 hours.

Results will be sent via SMS to your nominated mobile phone number. If you are travelling internationally and require a formal certificate of a negative test, please use our Travel Testing page.

We can collect for patients of all ages at all of our locations.

When attending our collection facilities:

Please ensure you wear a mask, and follow the directions of the onsite staff. Wait times may vary each day, we ask everyone to stay patient as we work through this continuing high demand for testing. Most patients are currently being seen in under an hour.

Respiratory Testing:

With the increasing incidence of influenza in our area, Capital Pathology is now providing Respiratory Virus testing widely across the ACT and surrounding regions. For more information and locations please click here

Pre-register your visit:

You can pre-register your attendance by completing your details online.

Pre-register now

After completing this form, you will receive a text message with a link to a barcode for each person to be tested. Please show this barcode to the collector once you are seen. This eliminates all paperwork at the time of collection, and reduces waiting times for everyone. For children requiring testing, a parent or carer's mobile number should be entered.
